PlugMap ("we", "us") is a free directory of public EV charging stations in the UK. We've built this site to be as privacy-friendly as possible. This page explains what data is — and isn't — involved when you use PlugMap.

No account required

You don't need to register, log in, or provide any personal information to use PlugMap. You can search, browse the map, and get directions without giving us anything about yourself.

Your location

The "Near me" feature uses your browser's geolocation to find the closest towns with charge points. Your location is processed entirely within your own browser to sort the list — it is never sent to our servers, stored, or shared. Your browser will always ask for permission before sharing your location, and you can decline.

Local storage

We use your browser's local storage to remember the towns you've recently viewed, so we can show them to you on the homepage. This information stays on your device and is never transmitted to us. You can clear it at any time through your browser settings.

Cookies and advertising

PlugMap may display adverts served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or learn more about how Google uses data at policies.google.com.

Contact form

If you use our contact form, the name, email address, and message you submit are processed by our form provider (Formspree) and forwarded to us by email. We use this information solely to respond to your enquiry and do not use it for marketing.

Third-party services

To display maps we load mapping tiles and libraries from third parties (OpenStreetMap, CARTO, and Leaflet via unpkg). Charging-point data is sourced from OpenChargeMap under a CC BY 4.0 licence. These providers may receive your IP address as a normal part of serving content, as is standard for any website.

Your rights

Because we don't collect or store personal data ourselves, there's nothing for us to delete or export. If you've contacted us by email and would like us to delete that correspondence, just get in touch and we'll remove it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised "last updated" date.
